Arthur was unsurprised when he heard a very loud crash coming from the doorway of his chambers. It was a noise he was accustomed to now. He heard the crash but did not bother to look up from the papers he was reading through. He knew who it was.

"What have you done this time Merlin?"

"N...nothing."

Arthur glanced over the top of the papers with his best 'I'm so not convinced' Gaius-like raised eyebrow.

Arthur looked ridiculous. Ever since Uther had given him a speech about courting ladies, he'd decided it was a good idea to court Merlin. I tried to explain to him that he and Merlin were quite far into their relationship, and that courting was unnecessary, but he remained undeterred. He said that Merlin deserved the same treatment he would have given anyone else.

As strange an idea as it was, he had a point. So I did nothing… and I watched him climb up the wall to Merlin's window, flower in his mouth, like I'd seen him do ages ago for Lady Vivian, and the only thing I could do was shake my head with a fond sigh.
